A woman takes a holiday on her own to 'find herself' before she comes home to wed. Her fiance is concerned, but supportive. In her travels, she discovers a blue door behind which is a perfect little garden, and a man who she seems to have an immediate connection with. After leaving, she tries to find the door again... An interesting story with an odd ending that doesn't quite seem to fit.

Nice to see healthy reactions to something that is more 'real' than supposed by most people.

This episode is just more Elspeth Eric father-daughter drama about a young woman with flashbacks to her childhood (related to her father that she doesn't consciously remember). (Elspeth must have suffered from some serious "daddy issues" since she wrote stories like this!) Also, the girl in the story follows her parents around Europe (as their younger selves) but she doesn't recognize them?!?!? Seriously, The girl would have seen family pictures of her mother and father, so she would have known what her parents looked like younger. Also, something about their personalities would have been recognizable, even if she had never seen family pictures. Elspeth's stories often don't make any sense. She write unbelievable stories where characters are acting really weird, lol! Having said that, the actors made the most of what they had to work with. it was well acted, well narrated and the music is haunting.

Also, the girl would recognize her own mother (even younger) after sitting and talking to her. Even for fantasy, it's really not that believable!

Amy

Not to mention that she would recognize her own father after talking to him (even a younger version), so it doesn't make any sense that she would know him.

Amy

I meant that it doesn't make any sense that she would NOT know him.

Amy

Actually, I realize now that she never knew her father because he died. Okay, so at least that part made sense.

Oh wow, and Elspeth Eric story that I enjoyed - and I didn't even have to brace myself for it. It brought back so many different emotions and memories. I had forgotten that back in the 1970s, there was this thing that people were "always searching for themselves". That's where I thought it was going. It was an expression that seemed to indicate that there was more than what we have, but we have to find it - and, therefore, ourselves. I have to disagree that she should have recognized her father. I disagree on many levels - The parents that I knew growing up looked very different than the absolutely gorgeous people that are in the pictures that I have recently discovered of their dating years. And, even if I met someone that reminded me of one of them, would I immediately think it was them? No, I don't think so. And, then there is this whole mysterious feeling of this episode - kind of like a dream. At least for me, things in dreams aren't always what they appear. Sometimes in a dream, I know that I am in a particular home, even though the house or room doesn't look anything like what it should. I don't know how I know where I am, but I do. I think the same may be true of people. If I were to meet a parent or grandparent in a dream - it may be that they don't look like they should, even if I knew who there were supposed to be. Well, this is the reverse. Could it be that there is a person who looks like they should, but in a dream, I don't recognize him/her? I think that could happen. And on many of Elpeth's stories, I also do believe she has some unresolved issues. So, it's kind of funny that this does not feel like one of them to me. I don't know any of Elspeth's history, so I don't know if she didn't have a father growing up (that might be interesting to know). So, at least for me, I did enjoy this episode. Now off to go find myself. (although, now, because of old age, it may be because I have forgotten where I put myself - when in the 1970s/80s it would have meant something different).

Well at least you didn't go Behind The Green Door like Marilyn Chambers LOL. Well actually come to think of it maybe it was her mother who did that 😂.
