This episode would have been considered dated in 1959, never mind 1979. Basic theme is borrowed from THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, but laughably produced. At one point the Air Force officer tells the farmer, "This base's purpose is Top Secret. It's where we store our nuclear warheads." Gee, he sure knew how to keep that "top secret."

I loved it. I am 15 and I listen in me bed in the dark. I think about kids me age way back in the seventies and even much earlier like fifties and I think about this is all they had and their imaginations to have fun. I think of how is much different now then back in the old days. I like having to imagine characters and places listening to these old radio shows, and it gives me another look into America past. Thank you for sharing with me.

Scott, it's great that you enjoy these at 15! I was 15 in 1980, when these were still being produced. I, too, would listen in the dark. I would record the shows off of live radio thanks to my boombox with a cassette recorder. I had TV, etc, but would imagine my parents as kids in the 1940s...who would gather around the radio as a family. Radio is magical. As with reading, your mind makes up the look of the places and faces. Spread your passion for these shows with your friends whenever you find a decent episode ; - ) Happy listening

I was in my teens when these were produced and only listened occasionally. I'm so glad we can both enjoy these archives. CBS (with Himan Brown, a name which should be familiar to you) had a long history of radio drama, and I like to seek out programs from the 40s as a way of connecting with my own parents' youth.

Scott, I was your age when I first listened to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater on WBBM while laying in bed and am thrilled to know you’re doing it now. I never imagined I’d have a wonderful way for me to relive the past. I hope they bring you as much joy as they did me and still do!

Cassandra

Original commercials intact.

Scott, I was that 15 year old, like you, back then.My cousin and I would listen to the Radio Mystery Theater at night! It was our adventure! Such wonderful times I’ll never forget.

A campy alien encounter episode. While not suspenseful or scary, it a fine show with good sound quality and interesting commercials and newsbreaks.
