A dancer defects from a communist country and becomes the object of a stalker in New York City.

Jason Franco

A premiere ballerina receives threats from an anonymous source if she leaves her country to seek asylum in America. After leaving, the threats continue. She also fears a particular ballet as being bad luck. With so much turmoil, who can she trust; to whom can she turn?

Sheldon

An interesting listen. I guessed part of it throughout the story, but not the whole thing. It was a little annoying hearing how she thought the ballet was cursed over and over again, but otherwise I thought it was an okay listen.

Alec

One of Marian Selde's better performances as a Czech dancer, who comes to America, (during the Cold War years), to avoid communist persecution. She is truly believable with her accent, as well as her manner and intonations, etc.

Amy

Soon after ballerina Vera Radlova arrives in the United States for an appearance with a famous dance company, a detective assigned to guard her is poisoned, her manager’s office is ripped apart by an explosion, and she receives threatening calls at her unlisted phone number. Still, Radlova agrees to perform the dangerous ballet, “River of Hades,” on a tricky platform stage. Another call warns her not to go to the theater on opening night. But Radlova disregards the threat and feels she’ll be safe dancing with Alexis Cole, the only person with no apparent motive for wishing her dead.
