This is CBS Radio Mystery Theater at its best. If you want to introduce someone to the series - this is a great place to begin. Great cast, great script, great story, great sound effects and use of the music library to great effect. A wonderful mystery woven from a classic story. My only critique is the great Larry Haines did not have the mid Atlantic accent and classic acting style Alexander Scourby, Lori March and Dan Ocko bring to this one so his dialog seems more contemporary than the others - but a valiant effort from author Karen Thorsen. Colonel Chabert is a wonderful dramatic thriller.

☆☆☆ very good adaptation of the Honoré de Balzac short story The mass grave scene is chilling & unforgettable.
