A pretty standard-issue 'New England ghost story' that doesn't really bring any surprises to the table. Solid performances from the female leads, but it's always distracting hearing grown women act the part of children, particularly boys. Not bad, just nothing new.

This is pretty much exactly what I was going to write. I kept making jokes the whole time like "is Mrs. F's son also an adult woman?'

This is the type of Radio Mystery Theater episode I remember the most from my childhood. It had mystery, a young boy as a main character, and a ghost. This would be a fun episode to play for your children (ages 10 and up) if you can tear them away from the TV or computer. 4 stars.

A family takes lease on a holiday seaside house that has been unoccupied for many years. Their son has been confined to house rest because of an illness and has recently been given a clean bill of health. The home was originally built by a seafaring captain and his wife. Shortly after taking possession the husband is called away on business and the wife and son remain. That night the ghost of the sailor’s wife visits and the wife, being a believer in ghosts, engages in a lengthy conversation on quite friendly terms. The ghost issues a warning…

Predictable, but fun. Ghost story.

Not bad. This show had good plot and wonderful suspense. I really enjoyed listening to the show. I was rooting for the mom to survive. It turned out the opposite of what I expected. Nice!!!

My favorite episode! What happened to Mrs. Forbush, I just got home from a play, turned on the radio and it was on. Yeah, I was scared lol

Andrew

I loved all of the ones I heard. I loved the squeaky floor board and doors. The sounds of people walking up or down a stairway. The sound effects I LOVED THOSE!

Sarah

I didn't think it was as predictable as other seem to have thought. Even though the person who did the boy sounded more like Rocket J Squirrel (okay, not that close) it was still an enjoyable episode. At the end, it seems like it could've also been called "Whatever happened to Mr. Forbush?", but obviously they interact more with Mrs. Forbush in the episode.

Marjorie and Bert Desmond and their 9-year-old son Robbie rent a long-deserted house by the sea. When Bert is called back to his office, Marjorie is confronted by what she is sure is the ghost of Lavinia Forbush, who owned the house 200 years ago and whose husband, Captain Forbush, and son were lost at sea. Lavinia warns Marjorie to take Robbie away before she loses him and her husband forever.

Yikes! So creepy to have a grown woman play the part of a little boy. Why not just get a child actor? Or just not do episodes with children's parts.

Don

A nice episode! Great sound! Curl up with a cup of chowder, argh! “This is for you Robbie! Come with me Robbie!”

An enjoyable episode. Good for when you just want a fun listen. The sound effects were great and the acting pleasant. Know most people don't like children's voices done by adults, but you use what is at hand. Enjoyed all the commercials too. Makes for a pleasant evening.

Ghost story with some family dynamics along with the plot. I enjoyed the radio acting and found the voice of the child to be just fine. The news clips were interesting.
