Ann's dramatic representations of the dying son's mother reached a bit too far. But, other than that, the story makes for an entertaining show. The episode is on my favorites list. 12-20-15

This was a very touching story & it reminds me of a movie called TILL WE MEET AGAIN where there's a lady who, like Mike in the story, was diagnosed with a terminal illness, who meets a man who's b'n convicted of a homicide & has b'n sentenced 2 death. Moreover.....it reminds of the ballad WILDFIRE sung by MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHY where he sings this guy who has a farm & the apparent ghost of a young woman ran out in a blinding, bone-chilling, blizzard looking 4 her pony, WILDFIRE who broke out of his stall & ran into the blizzard. Both the young lady & Wildfire were lost in the blizzard & succumbed 2 exposure in the elements(that's the only way the story in the song makes sense 2 me). The farmer is so fed up with farming that he senses the spirit of the girl's coming 2 take him away & they're both gonna be riding Wildfire, the pony, when they go. Very similar 2 what seems 2 have happened 2 Mike in the RMT play(it appears that Laura 4 him). This also makes me think of a 1983 song by the Aussie singing duo, AIR SUPPLY called TWO LESS LONELY PEOPLE. I give this RMT play an 8.5 out of 10. Have 2 move on but I'll be back 4 another adventure in the macabre. Until next time.....pleasant dreams. :-)

I rate this episode ★★★★☆ for GOOD. Ian Martin’s mystery tale was so wonderfully written, it should’ve been made for THE TWILIGHT ZONE or turn into a feature film. It had a great set up, characters were likable, the chemistry between the 2 lovers was pleasing, and the ending was very surprising. The title itself is catchy, another way to title this, would be “Laura Willow: The Magic Girl” or “To Be On His Own” or “Journey’s End.” In our Host’s Prologue, E.G. Marshall gets to the point right away that this is a pure and simple love story, plus phrasing Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s “How Do I Love Thee” Sonnet. In ACT-1, meet our main character. But also reminds the listeners that this is a subject of love, not death. In ACT-2, the details about the trail of Old Baldy. At the end of his narration, before commercial break, it was cut short. There must’ve been more details about the mysterious girl Laura Willow, but who knows what our Host had said? In ACT-3, after the shocking finale, the variety of possibilities of what happened to our main character. In his Epilogue, E.G. Marshall informs us about the main character’s parents and what they’ve discovered from reading a particular Headstone. As I said before, the ending was a surprising one. The sound effects of the cheering stadium on the TV, beeps at the Hospital, doors, howling wind, horse neighing, birds chirping, telephone ringing, car engine, and footsteps were good, but not enough in the final Act. The music, however, was splendid. A lot of dramatic tunes that set the scenes right. The track at the 33:39 mark was entrancing and it was the perfect melody for the 2 lovers. Now onto our cast: Kristoffer Tabori (as Mike Thruston), Roberta Maxwell (as Laura Willow), Mandel Kramer (as Jack Thurston and TV Sports Commentator), Arnold Moss (as Dr. Paul Baxter and Skipper), and Ann Pitoniak (as Joan Thurston). These 5 were awesome in what they did. Both Roberta Maxwell and Kristoffer Tabori were an outstanding pair. One of their best performances on CBSRMT. They go together like Joan Loring & Jack Grimes from #0053-THE CREATURE FROM THE SWAMP. I do recommend this episode to everyone that enjoys a love story that includes a surprising ending. Until next time…pleasant dreams. =0)
