What a sad, depressing story of human cruelty, which causes a man's death, and it didn't need to. If people had helped him get a coat, things could have turned out better for the poor man. I am surprised that the lady who seemed to care for him didn't get him a coat, or at least try to get people to all pitch in and contribute to getting a coat for him. A totally senseless and tragic tale with lack of charity and lack of caring at the center. These Russian classics are so grim and hopeless.
