Nice twist at the end. I never saw it coming!

Very well done. Not sure why this episode doesn't have more response. one of the best-crafted episodes I've heard on RMT. If you love a twist with your listens, then you MUST listen to this one, it's so well execute that you have to back up and listen again to make sure you actually heard what you thought you heard. Big recommendation on this one.

"The Hanging Sheriff" was as good an episode can get. It showed the pure power of radio mysteries. I felt genuine sorrow for Frank who just couldn't find a break. And as for Sheriff Bender, with a pushy wife and lack of a spine, he chose a peculiar time to "man-up" in a crisis situation. If only he'd stood up for the right cause. Lots of murder and mystery. Fred Gwynn can play lovable fellows, and not so lovable types. 5 stars.

I did not see this ending coming. This ending changed so fast and caught me completely off guard. A must listen. I gave this episode 5 stars.

Agreed that this episode is definitely stellar. I like happy endings; however the turn of events at the conclusion is what made it a finely spun tale. 1982 has been a treasure trove for me.

Great episode for Sure! Then again anything with Mr. Fred Gwynne is GD TO BEGIN WITH! THANKS, RMT

Lighthearted and whamo shockingly dark
