I saw him in the movie called No time for Sargents. He did a great job. I knew i saw him before but didn't recall where.

idney Smith started in radio in the 1930s, appearing in a number of Orson Welles' Shakespearean productions. He also appeared in Cavalcade of America and Crime Club but is best remembered as the voice of Ellery Queen. He appeared on Broadway in a number of productions, mostly Shakespearean and appeared in over 70 films and television programs, usually cast as a judge, doctor or general. In fact, he played a judge 6 times on TV's Perry Mason.

Sidney Smith taught Oral Interpretation at Northern Illinois University in the early 1970s. I was blessed to be in his class. He was warm and kind and listening to his wonderful voice was an experience. He was a great teacher as well as a great actor.

I saw Sydney on TV twice today, one in the movie “Party Girl” where he played an obviously corrupt judge, then later as a judge in a Perry Mason episode (I guess one of those six he starred in). The moment I saw him it hit me where I’d seen him first ever (another person commenting also wondered where she’d seen him first), and I believe it was an episode of The Honeymooners (they never credited any actors). He was the son who was shunned in the will in the episode “Ralph Kramden Inc.” where Ralph gets a parrot named “Fortune” and no money. The gambling playboy son (played by Smith) received $1 in the will after which Ed Norton famously says to him, “I hope you pick a winner with Il”. LOL. FINALLY I identified this actor! :-)
