OK, I'm a guy, and some might think I'm not supposed to appreciate love stories as much as the distaff side. However, this one really touched me. I also have a fondness for this as it's one I remember from my original RMT listening days. It's an adaptation of the Charlotte Bronte classic (I saw it the other day for older kids at the Barnes and Noble children's section). Bronte was supposed to be an unusual lady but along with her sisters wrote some special novels. Jane Eyre was an orphan who's now a young woman. She's also a self-motivated lady, and is crossing the English countryside by herself on her way to a job as a governess. At once, she's aware of a horseman just about to pass her by on a road when his horse slips and falls on an icy patch. She helps him to his horse and he rides on. Turns out he owns the mansion where she's going to work. She also finds herself falling in love with him (he's played, again, in a fine job by Arnold Moss) and he with her. There are some other things in that house that are strange, though, as Jane hears shrieking noises in the vicinity of the attic that another woman in the mansion's staff says are coming from a maid who supposedly behaves strangely every so often. Jane and the rich man become engaged, but right before the wedding another man who's a friend of the rich man's says he can't marry her...he's already married. (Jane had a terrible night before the wedding, as she dreamt that a demon like creature was in her room, ripping apart her wedding dress and staring at her.) He is indeed already hitched, and he knows a lot more than Jane has been told about the shrieking lady...
