A long serving country doctor is well known and well respected for his compassion and skills. His wife serves as his office assistant and is devoted to him and his work. After 25 years she even tolerates the strange visits from an attractive and sophisticated woman with whom her husband has dealings of an unknown nature. After her visits he is unsettled and irritable but she is critical to his successful practice.
