A young lady is hired as governess for two children. But, when she arrives to start her job, she discovers that the two are not children at all but young adults that are kept inside an old house and treated as if they are 10 years younger than they really are. Add a ghost and murder to the story as well as the nanny's desire to find out who has a reason to keep the young people hostage in their own home and you have the ingredients for this strange mystery.

Jackie

A woman is hired to care for two very child-like adults who have been secluded from society. While there, she is contacted by a ghost that wants her to avenge the murder of his wife.

A woman is hired to be nanny to a man’s niece and nephew for whom he is guardian. When she arrives she finds the ‘children’ are within a year or two of legal adulthood. Their housekeeper is very controlling of the situation and the children. Realizing that this is not what she wanted, she seeks leave of her new appointment but is intrigued by a story of an old chauffer who visits occasionally, despite having been killed many years ago.

Anyone else notice "Mary Richards" is the name of the nanny? Same as a popular early 70's sitcom lead...

Mike in Grand Rapids

An interesting story, but I'm not quite sure I understood the requirement of a nanny (with the exception of bringing the story to light). I think most of the plot was told and most of the conclusion realized early on, but it was still an interesting listen. Mike - I heard the same name and thought the same thing - makes you wonder if it was intentional for some reason.

Seems like they were going for a version of “The Turn of the Screw” with this one, but lost the plot somewhere along the way. The “children” being adults here really makes no sense, and a lot of threads of the plot are forgotten as the story progresses…still I enjoy the stories with supernatural elements, even if the quality is uneven.
