Journey Into Nowhere lurches from scene to scene, with each piling on a new (and very familiar) concept from the supernatural B-list: mysterious artifact, exotic location, shifty native, deadly curse, femme fatale, evil cult, disembodied laughter, and even "It was all a dream... Or was it?" And that's only a partial list. There are enough ideas for ten scripts, which is the real problem here. It's an odd, unsatisfying episode perhaps best appreciated as an affectionate tribute to radio's cheesy-but-fun thrillers of the 30s and 40s, like The Hermit's Cave or Weird Circle.
Not helping matters is the intrusive sound design, with effects so loud it's actually hard to make out the dialogue in places(at least on the version I heard).

An archaeologist believes that if he can find a certain artifact, that it will lead to world peace. When he discovers a small totem related to his quest, he, like a responsible archaeologist and preserver of ancient artifacts, drills a hole through it and wears it around his neck. As he encounters locals on the street they tear away from him in terror. He learns that the totem he wears is a symbol of a most powerful spirit – and the longer he wears it, the more intimate he becomes with this mysterious force.

This episode was real clunker. I made it through the first two acts before I gave up. I couldn't really tell you what was going on in this confusing and meandering story. I guess after a string of good episodes, I was due for a bad one.
