When put on the ultimate spot - when someone is forcing you to decide your own fate - the stress, I imagine, must be overwhelming. That's the whole basis of this bizarre little crime drama. While not a wholly "mysterious" show, it had enough twists and dilemma's to keep me happy. I really enjoyed the concept. A dermatologist being forced into performing surgery. I wonder if the writer toyed with making him a chiropractor or perhaps, a psychologist. Depsite the main tale being the impending surgery and fate of the doctor because of the procedure, the side story of a questionable relationship between the doctor and his nurse, sparked by a jealous wife, was interesting and a nice addition to the plot. For me this was a middle of the road tale, not a blow-away experience, yet not even close to a let down, either. It was a good, solid and enjoyable performance with good character development and a story that held together well. My only complaint was that the doctor was just too whiny, but that's what the role called for, so... I gave this one a 4.6... a great choice!

In just 42 minutes, it's difficult to have a real subplot working. A lot of episodes never even get a good main plot working. But this one has a great plot with the gangsters pressuring the dermatologist to do surgery and the doctor's troubled relationship with his wife and illicit relationship with his nurse. It has been awhile since I listened to this one, but it is memorable. I gave it a four.

I have heard this one probably 200 times at least, and is one from my childhood collection. It is one of my faves. I like how in this RMT, as with others, they use the "non-speak". i.e. you know "Eddie" is there, but he doesn't say anything. Helps flesh out the number of characters without having extra actors and unnecessary dialog. I thought that the subplot was good, but I think the Private detectives were on scene pretty quick at the end though. Doc's wife must have had some $$$ tucked away to get them there like that! but, like I said, I've heard it a lot, so I have had time to think of these things. And as usual, I listen to it in November. Preferably when it is raining! Glad you guys liked it.

Nice choice. - The closing music at the end of the third act was used in one of my favorite RMTs: "The Laughing maiden". It's a winsome acoustic piano and strings number that seemed almost too melancholy (but still was appropriate) for the ending. - I did like the plot tension elements as elaborated before. - Tony Roberts was one of the younger actors (like Russel Horton and Paul Hecht) who was a regular on the show. Always enjoyable to hear him and it's good to know (as someone elsewhere has said) that he's still quite busy.

Was it just me or did "Pop" sound like Jackie Mason with a sore throat? OMG, the doctor's whining...I think I would have whacked him over the head with the butt of the gun just to shut him up. I was a little confused about EG Marshall's comment at the end that "Sue Ann found a new and more viable romance." I didn't see anything in the story to indicate she even considered the doc, romantically speaking. The whole thing seemed to be more a belief on the wife's part than based on any romantic feelings between the two. I must admit, I'm not really a Tony Roberts fan and, in this particular story, I felt like he was overacting just a tad, especially in the first act.
